Preparations for the installation of tile flooring
Preparing floor vinyl tile, prepare floor ceramic tile, hardwood floor preparation
As every tile goes on to the flooring, it adds the beauty you desired for
your home. Anyway, you have made various pre-works or preparations to finish
prior to the stage of installation of tiles on the floor.
Moving
This cannot be started just before you start the process of installation.
Although you prefer self help for yourself, you need to have some person
with you to complete this step. Make sure to finish the work before a day
of installers’ arrival.
Many people assume that moving all the furniture and fixtures does not need
any help. You have to empty all the shelves and drawers before lifting and
keep them in a proper place where they will not be disturbed while the installation
process is going on.
Another problem involved in lifting is, you cannot lift the large appliances
which weighs heavy. Hire the packers and movers for this work, from your
locality. Move the big cupboards, piano, cot and other such with their help.
the installation might extend up to 2 weeks plan settling according to that.
Plan you’re cooking and dishwashing as you will not proceed with those usual
tasks during the period of installation. Call a plumber to check for the
gas lines to get disconnected for the work of tiles installation to start.
Toilets and sinks in the bathroom have to be changed as for an appropriate
installation.
Changes in flooring and sub flooring
If you have spread carpet, linoleum or fixed any old tile, in the area where
you are going to make the new flooring, take away all these. The top layer
should be flat to evenly install the new one. Use an ice scraper to remove
all these uneven materials and you can do the same technique for the old
tiles
Take care of the doors
When you remove the door, make a small mark on both side of the wall to
notify the bottom level. Later you can measure an inch and mark for each
frame and the door. It will be easier for you when you install again. You
can measure the marks and fit it in the exact height. You can even add ¼
inch, if you want the doors to swing freely.
Heating
Heating requirements for your area can be completed before the installation
of the tiles. Radiant floor heating, hydronic radiant heat and other can
be finished by the plumber and electrician.
Molding
Mold out all the old wood and others which need to be. You can also pre-paint
it to make it effective.
On the day of tiling
Usually, the thin set takes 7 to 24 hours to get settled according to the
humidity level.
