Refinish hardwood floors, cleaning hard wood floors, hardwood floor care

Wooden floors are very nice in cold places. They give a rich look and keep the floor warm. They come in planks made from fine oak trees, and if affordable teak. Nowadays padak is used, it gives the same look like teak but it is cheap compared to teak. . High density fiber is becoming famous nowadays. They are cheap compared to other woods. They come in sheets, They are made from wood pulp. Wood pulp is pressed hard in a machine and the sheet is formed. It comes in varying thickness. These may not suit house flooring but can be used for offices etc. After installation, it can be polished.
Putting wooden flooring is easy but maintaining is difficult. Even if a small amount of water spills and stays for a long time it will discolor the flooring and it has to be polished again to get back the finish.
Mud and dirt are great enemies to wood, if we keep walking in a place where there is mud or dirt it creates a scratch mark in the wood. All furniture and articles should be lifted and not pulled or pushed while moving in the wooden flooring. It may chip the wood and damage the flooring. Even if we drop any heavy thing by mistake it might damage the floor. The floor has to be polished now and then depending upon the usage.
Extra care has to be taken while cooking etc; that matchstick with fire falls on the ground.
The flooring should be cleaned with a mop in such a way that the mop stick does not touch the floor otherwise it will make a scratch on the floor which will become irremovable. The most important thing is to avoid pests. Pest killing medicine should be used now and then to avoid pests from entering. Once they enter it will be difficult to prevent it from spreading. Hence, prevention is better than cure always.
If they get exposed to sunlight it will damage the wood, the color will fade and it has to be polished again but still the same color will be difficult to get. Being cautious and protecting from sunlight is important. If carpet is being laid over the wooden floor then it has to be removed now and then and cleaned as dust gets deposited at the bottom of the carpet.
If we go for wood we should be ready to spend for maintenance as well. Spending money for maintenance should not be given a second thought as it will decrease the durability of the floor. Doing it then and there is very important, never postpone the work.
